The Case Competition is judged by a panel of volunteer judges, carefully selected by both TBSC and the Bank of Georgia. These judges come from represent diverse fields, including finance, marketing, consulting, and entrepreneurship. Some judges represent major organizations such as the Bank of Georgia, EBRD, EBA, Grant Thornton, and PWC, while others are freelancers or founders of startups.

On the first look, the diversity might seem bad, as different backgrounds cause different thinking. All of the judges are experts in their field but might not know the other fields that are in the case that well. However, we try to model the real-world business decision making that happens on the meeting with supervisory board.

To ensure consistent and fair judging process, before the competition begins, all judges are familiarized with the competition’s structure and objectives. Important to note that, the judges do not know which universities the teams represent, so they evaluate the teams solely on their performance, free from any biases or preconceived notions.

Many judges find their participation in the Case Competition both rewarding and enjoyable, as it provides an opportunity to engage with the next generation. In fact, most express an interest in returning for future competitions. They appreciate contributing to an event that helps students develop and advance in their careers. In some cases, judges have been so impressed by participants that they’ve offered them job opportunities, making the competition not only a learning experience but also a valuable networking event for both students and judges.
